NITROCELLULOSE MEMBRANES

Interstate Specialty Products die cuts nitrocellulose membrane filters for protein and nucleic acid blotting, and other applications.

Interstate Specialty Products die cuts nitrocellulose membrane filters for medical and scientific, electronics, and industrial applications. For over 50 years, we’ve been using precision die cutting to create custom nitrocellulose filters at our Made in the USA company in Sutton, Massachusetts.

Today, our converting capabilities include cleanroom cutting for medical, pharmaceutical, and other high-purity applications. The nitrocellulose membrane filters that we die cut are used widely in protein blotting, but a PVDF membrane may offer better staining and handling, along with greater support for multiplexing.

Die Cut Nitrocellulose Membrane Filters

Die cut nitrocellulose membrane filters are made of mixed cellulose esters (MCE) and are chemically compatible with bases and dilute acids, non-polar liquids, and hydrocarbons. They consist of cellulose nitrate and cellulose acetate (CA), and offer higher protein binding than CA membrane filters alone.

With their high binding capacity, die cut nitrocellulose membrane filters are a good choice for nucleic acid detection in research and development applications. The membrane filtration material’s high tensile strength makes it suitable for dipstick tests and helps prevent tearing during transfers.

Custom Nitrocellulose Acetate Membrane Filters

Interstate Specialty Products also die cuts custom nitrocellulose acetate membranes for laboratory applications such as contamination analysis and filter sterilization. Often, pure nitrocellulose is used for immunoblotting or Western blotting, a process that transfers proteins to a solid-phase support.

In addition to Western blots, Interstate Specialty Products can die cut blotting paper into nitrocellulose membrane filters for Northern and Southern blots. Each partially permeable membrane filter provides high flow rates and can be autoclaved or irradiated. Detergent-free materials also yield sharper images.
