Genuine Porex® materials offer uncompromising performance for a variety of scientific, medtech, electronic, and consumer applications.

Interstate Specialty Products is a manufacturing partner and distributor that carries the full line of Porex® materials. These porous plastics and polymers are available with controlled pore sizes for filtering, wicking, venting, muffling, diffusing, and membrane support. Porex® creates high value porous materials that enable our customers’ products to do something new, something better, or at a lower cost.

Our Made in the USA manufacturing company has extensive experience in Porex® fabrication. At our custom fabrication facility in Sutton, Massachusetts, we can convert Porex® sheets, rods, and tubes to your precise geometry.

Pore Size/ Pore Volume

All Porex® materials contain an intricate network of open- celled, omni directional pores that are distributed consistently throughout the media for a unique combination of diffusion, wicking, filtering, and venting capabilities. When reviewing Porex® material specifications, keep in mind that:

  • Pore size is the average size of the voids in the Porous Media
  • Pore Volume is the percentage of the material’s air volume at total volume

Porous Polyethylene

  • Pore Sizes: 7 micron- 300 micron
  • Tensile strength up to 20N/mm2
  • Resilient and resistant to creep and fatigue
  • Highly resistant to acids and alkalis
  • Resistant to most organic solvents below 176F
  • Suitable to use at temperatures from 200F up to 300F

Porous Polypropylene

  • Pore Sizes: 100 micron to 300 micron
  • Resilient and resistant to creep and fatigue
  • Low elongation makes the products rigid and stiff
  • Suitable to use at temperatures from 200F up to 300F
