Kapton is a polyimide film from DuPont with a strong balance of electrical, chemical, mechanical, physical, and thermal properties.
Unlike other electrical insulators, Kapton has good dielectric strength even at high temperatures. Desirable over a wide temperature range, Kapton film can also withstand low temperatures.

Kapton insulation does not readily melt or burn, and has the highest UL-94 flammability rating.
